Andrew Tera secured the Deputy Governor position after receiving 10 more votes against his only contender, the former Deputy Governor and Onga Waffa LLG President, at a 26 - 16 margin, from the 42 members of the Morobe Tutumang who were present yesterday.

Morobe Province has successfully completed the swearing-in of its 37 Local Level Government (LLG) presidents, and conducted the election of the new Deputy Governor, picking up from the proceedings that began on Friday last week, the 19th of December.

The Morobe Governor, Rainbo Paita officially declared his Deputy, the Morobe Patrol Post LLG President, Andrew Tera and the 37 LLG Presidents to the public waiting outside, and welcomed them as members of the Tutumang or Provincial Assembly, with the ceremony ending peacefully yesterday.

Governor Paita congratulated his newly elected Deputy Governor and urged all 37 LLG presidents, to work collaboratively to advance development within their respective LLGs, to make a difference in their districts and the province as a whole.

“All of us must work together and take responsibility. You are now sworn in as leaders of your Local Level Governments, so be good leaders to your communities,” Paita said.

Governor Paita also highlighted key development challenges facing the districts and LLGs across Morobe Province, emphasizing the need for Morobe Members of Parliament and their LLG presidents to work together to address these issues.

Emphasizing what Governor Paita said, his new Deputy, Andrew Tera stressed, that he can work well in his position, if there's good working collaboration with all Morobe leaders from the top down to the councillors.

Like all other LLG Presidents around the country, these 37 LLG presidents, as well as Morobe's new Deputy Governor, will serve a five-year term in office, meaning they will not be changed in the 2027 National Elections.
