Manus LLG Presidents officially sworn-in
Eleven Local-Level Government [LLG] Presidents were formally sworn in yesterday afternoon at the Manus Provincial Lapan Assembly, officially inducting them as Members of the Assembly.
The only absent leader was the President of Nigoherm LLG, Paul Silas.
The eleven inducted leaders who took their oath before Senior Provincial Magistrate Jasper Amanu were, Ray Wawah, Melkie Ka-ang, Jimmy Kipilas, Pahun Pokoi, Hans Poiou, Pomaleu Langisan, Wesley Ndrayeu, James Kepo, Jayso James Soon, Kallen Joshua, and Len Tentem.
The event also featured the nomination of the Deputy Governor for Manus, a position for which Hon. Len Tentem was successfully nominated.
During the proceedings, Governor Charlie Benjamin congratulated the new members and addressed them on their mandate.
He reminded them that their constituents have placed their trust in them, and it is now time to set aside political differences and work together for the betterment of Manus.
Governor Benjamin urged the leaders to focus on crucial issues within their respective LLGs, such as maintaining law and order, and to prioritize development plans for the next five years.
He emphasized the need for leadership that is community-oriented and urged the new leaders to always prioritize the needs of their people above personal interests.
“We are all here to serve our people, and it is important that we work together for the betterment of Manus.
“Let us put our political affiliations aside and focus on the needs of our communities.
"I trust that each of you will fulfill your duties with diligence and integrity.” Governor Benjamin said.
