Parliament successfully passed the K30.9 billion 2026 national budget, on voices, after a marathon debate from 11am to 8pm in the night.

Teasurer Ian Ling-Stuckey tabled the 2026 Appropriation Bills with 11 accompanying Bills.

Ling-Stuckey thanked members from both sides of the House for their support, debate and for their patience, sitting through the whole session.

He says the budget reflects stability , reforms and continued economic growth , while the Opposition disagrees saying it is unrealistic.

The Treasurer pledged to work hard with his fellow colleague ministers from Finance and Planning to implement this record budget.

Following the passage of the budget, Prime Minister James Marape closed with commending Ling-Stuckey on his 7th annual budget.

Due to the passing of Works Minister Solan Mirisim this morning, the traditional Treasurer's cocktail was cancelled.

Parliament rose to Tuesday 10th March 2026 at 2pm.
