Bugandi Secondary School in Lae will benefit from a K5 million funding from the Lae City Authority for the construction of its new hall.

Member for Lae and Deputy Prime Minister, John Rosso, made this announcement during the 30th graduation of Bugandi Secondary School last Friday.

Deputy PM Ross said the project is part of broader infrastructure improvements taking place across Lae’s secondary schools.

He said the most visible signs of change are ongoing school infrastructure upgrades in Bugandi, Lae Secondary, and Busu Secondary, with new development expected to begin at Bumayong Secondary this year.

As part of continued efforts to improve learning facilities in the city, he also confirmed that an eight-in-one classroom will be built for Markham Road Junior High School next year, including the other upcoming junior high schools like Huonville Primary School, and Igam Primary School.

Rosso said that funding is a major constraint to fund all primary schools at the same time.

"My assurance to all school is that they will all still benefit.

"The secondary schools were given first priority because of the influx population of students every year that spacing is the major problem which causes a lot of students to be forced onto the streets and that is now being resolved." Rosso further explained,

School Principal Dennis Miall thanked the Deputy Prime Minister, sponsors, and partners who supported the ceremony and the school throughout the year.

He also expressed appreciation to the Ward Councilor of Salamaua LLG for donating two laptops and acknowledging the East Sepik Provincial Government for sponsoring the Language and Literature award

A total of 384 students graduated during the ceremony.
