K7.7billion PIP boost in 2026 budget as Connect PNG inquiry looms
The National Government continues to put massive funding towards the Public Investment Programs [PIP], with a massive K7.7 billion allocated towards this in the 2026 National budget.
This is to maintain, among its other programs, the signature Connect PNG Program, which is expected to see a K1.7 billion allocation for next year.
The program which has been riddled with much criticism and controversy over its billions of kinas annual allocation, has prompted an inquiry set to commence next month.
Treasurer Ian Ling-Stuckey maintains that the Connect PNG Program is a worthwhile investment.
Ling-Stuckey says provincial budget allocations are seeing increases, in functional grants from K535 million to K770 million.
The allocations towards provincial health authorities and education, is also adding onto this.
