First drug delivery from Badili Medical Store to Milne Bay

In a first, medical drug orders from Badili Area Medical Store in Port Moresby were successfully delivered to the Milne Bay Health Authority at the weekend

The monthly orders are usually airlifted to Alotau but the inaugural 18hour drive via the Port Moresby Alotau national highway could become the new norm.

Express Customs Logistics Ltd, the southern region’s medical supply distributor, made the arduous journey on Saturday, arriving early morning Sunday intact.

Health Minister Elias Kapavore, describing it history making brought about by the Government’s flagship Connect PNG program.

Cameron Jack, Alotau Provincial Hospital’s Chief Pharmacist confirms these were monthly orders procured from the Badili Medical Stores under the Department of Health for the month of September, orders for October are pending.

There were over 600 cartons aboard two dino trucks with two escort vehicles, 406 cartons specifically for Alotau Provincial Hospital alone, at a cost of over K169,900

Meantime, they were okayed to load 40 size G empty oxygen cylinders, an emergency arrangement by MBPHA for restock from Port Moresby and to be delivered sometime this week.

Their usual oxygen cylinder orders are via BOC Lae.
