Pulling down of Alotau's Gurney Airport Terminal building is underway; it has served the province for nearly 30years.

The terminal building opened in 1997 is going down to make way for the current K76million Gurney Airport Upgrade Project, a major infrastructure development for Milne Bay.

This development includes maintenance and extension work to the Gurney Airport runway and a new state of the art terminal building, a project by the National Airports Corporation under their Civil Aviation Development Initiative Program 2.

The NAC-CADIP team confirm the last use of the old Gurney terminal was after the last flight out on Sunday, and operations have now shifted to a temporary terminal structure for the duration of construction time for this major project.

Meantime, Parking Bay 2 works that began last Saturday has been successfully completed. Aircrafts are permitted now to use Parking Bay 2, 3 and 4 while work on Parking Bay 1 is said to have commenced Monday and will carry through a week.
