The 2025 National Grade 10 Examinations began today across all secondary and high schools in Hela Province, with Education Director Mr. Ronny Knox Angu assuring parents and the public that all preparations are in place for a smooth, safe, and fair conduct of the exams.

Mr Angu says invigilators, security personnel, and education officers have already been deployed to respective schools to oversee the process.

He added that after the Grade 10 examinations conclude this week, Grade 12 students will sit for their exams next week, followed by Grade 8 students later this month.

He appealed directly to communities, stressing that the students sitting these exams are their own sons and daughters.

“Our students come from your villages and from across Hela Province. It is therefore the responsibility of every community to ensure peace, order, and harmony during this period. Providing security and avoiding disturbances is the greatest contribution you can make to the future of our young people and our province,” Mr Angu said.

He confirmed there had been a disturbance at Pureni in the Koroba Lake Kooiago District but assured the public that police are on the ground to maintain law and order. “Students must not be disrupted or sabotaged in any way. I urge all communities to learn from this and remain united in giving every child the opportunity to complete their exams without fear.”

Mr Angu also encouraged students to remain focused and give their best effort, reminding them that these exams are a key milestone in their education journey.

“On behalf of Hela Education Services, I extend my best wishes to all Grade 10 students starting their exams today, and to our Grade 12 and Grade 8 students who will follow. Stay focused, do your very best, and make your families and province proud,” he said.
