Simbu Teachers College has welcomed a brand new, tens eater Toyota Land Cruiser valued at K260,000, a move set to improve transport for staff and students.

The vehicle purchased using tuition fees from second and third year students in 2024 was celebrated as a major boost for the college.

Moses Kawage, Chairman of the Governing Council, said the college previously had only one truck, provided by the Simbu Provincial Government, since its establishment. He added that the new Land Cruiser will help staff efficiently carry out administrative tasks such as procurement, banking, and other errands.

“The vehicle will also enable the college to reach remote areas, expanding our services and providing rural communities better access to our resources,” Kawage said. “It will support students’ participation in extracurricular activities and promote their development and well being.”

Principal Peter Kol described the Land Cruiser as a vital asset for both staff and students. “Simbu Teachers College continues to play a key role in producing teachers for the nation. This vehicle is a practical investment that shows our dedication to progress and excellence,” he said.

Kol assured the governing council and staff that the vehicle will be properly monitored and maintained to ensure its long term use.

The occasion also included a motivational speech by Rev Thomas Wii, who encouraged students to remain committed to their studies and emphasized the importance of quality education in building communities and the nation.

Simbu Teachers College currently has 17 lecturers, 17 support staff, and over 800 students across its three-year programs. The arrival of the new vehicle coincides with the conclusion of the college’s golden jubilee celebrations.
