Koroba [Hupiko] Secondary School in Koroba-Lake Kopiago District celebrated its senior students with a special dinner on Thursday night. The event honored 78 Grade 10 and 98 Grade 12 students as they prepare for their upcoming National Examinations.

School Principal Stanley Langap described the evening as joyful, bringing together a wide range of guests, including members of the Board of Governors, representatives from the Halu Kaya [MS-22], parents, guardians, local pastors, the Kakarene community, teachers and their families, as well as students from Grades 9 to 12.

Founded in the 1970s, Koroba [Hupiko] is one of Hela’s three pioneer secondary schools, alongside Tari and Magarima Secondary Schools. Over the decades, the school has nurtured hundreds of educated individuals, including Koroba-Lake Kopiago MP and Minister for Coffee, William Wai Bando.

Mr Langap said the students looked smart and proud in their full school uniforms and ties, marking the occasion with dignity. He added that the banquet was not only a farewell but also a way to inspire students to see themselves as the future leaders of the nation in the next 50 years.

The dinner also celebrated the school’s values of unity, excellence, and community support, helping students feel encouraged as they move to the next stage of their education.
