Jacob Areman will take office as Sandaun's Provincial Administrator on Monday, the 6th of October, after being officially welcomed in by the outgoing Acting Provincial Administrator, Eric Sakin, and Governor for West Sepik Tony WouWou, witnessed by Public Servants and the people of West Sepik today.

Jacob Areman, appointed in August this year, was officially welcomed on Friday in Vanimo during a handover ceremony where acting Provincial Administrator Eric Sakin formally passed on the role to him.

West Sepik Governor Tony Wouwou, senior officials, and DPM representatives witnessed the ceremony, where National Planning Secretary Koney Samuel said Jacob Areman’s two decades of experience will serve the province well.

" On behalf of the Department of National Planning and Monitoring, I would like to congratulate Mr Areman on his appointment. He worked as a senior officer in the department as first assistant secretary, Compliance and Auditing Division. He has no fear or favor when it comes to Accountability and Transparency."

Mr. Samuel challenged Mr. Areman to perform well and deliver services to the people of West Sepik.

"Our expectation of the provinces is to help us deliver the 2050 Vision of the country. The National Government cannot do this alone; this is a challenge to you, provincial administrators, to work hand in hand with your leaders in the province to deliver for the people."

Outgoing acting provincial administrator Eric Sakin, on congratulating Mr Areman, talked about the importance of partnership.

" We have to find an avenue for all people of West Sepik, development partners, agencies, and business houses, to participate meaningfully in the development of the province. This is a gap I, as acting provincial administrator for almost 11 months acting on the role, have identified". Mr Sakin assured Mr Areman that he would work with him to see this happen.

Jacob Areman, before taking his post as the new Provincial Administrator for Sandaun Provincial Administration, was with the Department of Monitoring and Planning for almost 13 years, and was the longest serving board member of the PNG Forestry Authority.

Arriving in West Sepik as a forestry province, he assured the PNGFA that PNG Diwai Holdings Limited, its business arm, would be established to drive forestry development, promote downstream processing, and ensure resource owner's benefit.

His message to the people of West Sepik and Public Servants was simple; he says he believes in teamwork to carry the Province Forward.
