The body of the late Morobe Governor, Luther Wenge, was airlifted today to Menyamya, Bulolo, and Huon Gulf districts as part of a series of district visitations that will continue into next week. The visits will allow the people of Morobe to pay their final respects to the Governor.

Accompanying the late Wenge on this solemn journey is the Deputy Prime Minister and Member for Lae, John Rosso, who is also the Chief Mourner, along with members of the late Governor's immediate family.

In an emotional display of unity, the people of the three districts came together to receive their late Governor with heartfelt ceremonies and traditional expressions of mourning and grief.

Deep sorrow and gratitude were expressed for the late Wenge’s decades of service, as communities remembered him as a tireless advocate for Morobe’s development and a true leader of the people.

The district visitations are scheduled to continue until Tuesday next week, after which the body will return to Lae each night to lie in honor at the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium [SIKS], where the official haus krai has been established.

The late Governor will spend his final day at the stadium on Wednesday, 8 October, when a state funeral service will be held at the SIKS Outdoor Complex.

Following the service, his body will be flown to Baindoang Village in the Nawae District, where he will be laid to rest according to his wishes.

Governor Luther Wenge’s passing marks the end of an era in Morobe politics, but his legacy will continue to resonate across the province he so passionately served.
