Morobe mourns as they receive late Governor Wenge’s body

Morobe rose as early as 6 am on the streets of Lae, some even earlier at their own locations. All businesses were closed, and even the PMV buses were convoyed to the Nadzab Tomodachi International Airport, to receive the body of the Late Morobe Governor, Luther Akisawa Wenge.
The motorcade escorting late Governor Wenge’s casket was then convoyed towards Lae in one of the longest lines of vehicles, slowing down traffic and causing a one-way traffic only out of Nadzab.

As the motorcade was making its way, the Prime Minister James Marape flew in on a Chopper, and made his entrance at 3pm at Morobe's Provincial Assembly House or Tutumang.
Despite the 31 degrees heat of the sun, the people have gathered in front of the Tutumang building and lined up outside the street outside the Tutumang building since this morning, awaiting the arrival of their late Governor.

The Deputy Speaker of Parliament and member for Markham, Koni Iguan will officially hand over the body on behalf of the National Government, to the Deputy Prime Minister and member for Lae John Rosso on behalf of Morobe Province.

The motorcade will tour the streets of Lae, before overnighting at late Wenge's immediate family's residence, and will be airlifted to visit the 9 districts of Morobe for the last time tomorrow.
Governor Luther Wenge’s return marks a deeply emotional chapter for Morobe, as its people remember a leader whose legacy touched every corner of the province
