East Sepik will join the rest of Papua New Guinea to conduct its Local Level Government Elections on October 25th

Despite strong efforts to carry on the deferred LLG Elections, Acting Provincial Administrator Alphonse Kami says they will comply with the Electoral Commission’s decision.

Mr. Kami told NBC News that this decision prevents any legal implications that might follow if East Sepik pushes to have its LLG elections.

East Sepik leaders call for withdrawal of writs

And with the deferral of the LLG elections by a month, East Sepik leaders are calling on the Electoral Commission to consider the withdrawal of writs and for local leadership roles to be resumed until new writs are issued.

In a media brief, Deputy Provincial Administrator for Provincial, District & LLG Services Godfried Raushem made this call with strong emphasis on the need of local leadership in order.

Supporting Mr Raushem, East Sepik’s Acting Provincial Administrator Alphonse Kami says the administration desperately needs the provincial government in place to effectively serve the people of East Sepik.
