Nearly 40 vehicles carrying the people of Bulolo converged on Lae city today to pay tribute to the late Songang Luther Akisawa Wenge, fallen Morobe governor widely remembered for his leadership and commitment to local communities.

The convoy, representing all four local-level government areas in Bulolo, reflected the deep respect the district holds for Wenge

Leading the delegation, Bulolo MP Sam Basil Jr. Said Wenge was a great leader of the people of Morobe whose contributions to the province would not be forgotten.

“This is more than a farewell; it is a testament to a leader who shaped the lives of many in Morobe,” Mr Basil said during the presentation ceremony.

On behalf of the Bulolo District Development Authority, Basil Jr handed over K20,000, two cows, 50 bags of rice, and multiple truckloads of food items to Mrs Forenuc Wenge and her son Joshua, who received the donations on behalf of the family. The gesture symbolised the community’s gratitude and respect for the late governor’s service.

Bulolo District Chief Executive Joseph Paru also paid tribute, saying Wenge was a visionary leader whose dedication to Morobe’s growth and welfare will be remembered for years to come.

Locals from across Bulolo expressed their sorrow at the loss, reflecting the strong personal and political ties Wenge maintained with his constituents.

The tribute shows how Wenge’s leadership still has a strong influence in Morobe Province and highlights the close connection between the district and its former governor. His work continues to inspire local leaders and communities.
