The Goroka District Development Authority [DDA] has strengthened its partnership with the Goroka Urban Local Level Government [GULLG] and the police, donating three new vehicles to improve town cleanliness and security.

The donation includes two Hyundai Dyna trucks for the town authority and a Toyota Hilux for the Community Policing and Reserve Section. MP Aiye Tambua handed over the keys to GULLG Manager Harold Abori and Eastern Highlands Provincial Police Commander Chief Superintendent John Kale.

“The DDA has plans to transform Goroka into a model town,” Tambua said. “Strengthening law and order is crucial to achieving city status. A safe and well-governed town will attract investors, visitors, and businesses, driving growth and development.”

Tambua also announced a K20,000 monthly budget for police reservists to support their efforts in maintaining peace and order. He encouraged residents, especially youths, to actively participate in shaping the town’s long-term development.

GULLG Manager Abori called the donation a historic milestone after three decades of service and pledged to maintain the vehicles responsibly. Chief Superintendent Kale thanked MP Tambua for the support and vowed full police cooperation to enforce town bylaws and ensure safety.
