Election officials in Madang Province say training for local-level government [LLG] election workers will continue, despite the deferral of polling.

Assistant Election Manager Panchito Amepou confirmed that training materials have already been dispatched to districts. He said sessions are underway in Raikos District, where he is supervising, while other officers are conducting training in the remaining five districts.

The province is preparing for a significant vote, with three newly created LLGs in North and South Karkar in Sumkar District, and Wanuma in Middle Ramu, set to elect their first ward councilors and LLG presidents.

Candidates have voiced frustration at repeated delays, urging the government to be more decisive. While some welcomed the extra time to campaign, others said resources had already been exhausted and further deferrals were unfair.
