Hewabi initiated as chief of Middle Fly district

In a momentous and emotional ceremony, the remote Boazi tribe of Aiambak-Wangwanga village initiated Middle Fly MP Maso Hewabi as the Chief of Middle Fly District. The initiation, held during the independence celebrations at Nomad Station, shows the tribe's respect and great admiration for the young leader.
As the kundu drums beat and the tribe performed a traditional round dance, a special song was sung, and locals danced around Hewabi, tying a headband adorned with feathers on his head. This sacred headband is a symbol of unity, representing the coming together of diverse tribes as one.
Elizah Anato, a nominated member of the Middle Fly District Development Authority [MFDDA], explained the significance of the initiation ceremony.
"This is a recognition of Maso Hewabi's potential to achieve great things for his people," he said.
The Paramount Chief, Chris Obaki, who oversees the Aiambak, Wangwanga, Bosset, and Mipan areas, had recognized the MP's dedication and leadership, and decided to bestow this honor upon him.
As Hewabi accepted the headband, he was acknowledged as the Chief of Middle Fly District. The feathers on the headband serve as an emblem, recognizing him as a leader who has earned the respect and trust of his people. This initiation marks a new chapter in his leadership journey, one that is filled with promise and possibility.
The ceremony was set as a reminder of the importance of unity and leadership in shaping the future of a community.
As Hewabi embarks on this new role, the people of Middle Fly District look forward to a brighter future, united under his visionary leadership.
