Local businessman Max Kamba is urging youths in Madang Province to stay away from drugs and other deadly habits.

He emphasised that in order to be good citizens and to be successful in life, youths must engage themselves in worthwhile activities.

Mr. Kamba, over Independence Week, assisted four village sports tournaments in Madang District with cash donations ranging from K5,000 to K10,000.

Knowing that the government was unable to reach out to all communities during Independence, Mr Kamba forked out a total of K30,000 to help local villagers also celebrate the 50th Independence Anniversary.

Besides giving to sports, Mr Kamba has also assisted the police prosecution unit in Madang with new sets of tyres and wheel rims for their new ten-seater vehicle.

The new tyres and mag wheel rims were presented this morning and immediately fitted to the vehicle, replacing the factory tyres.

Mr Kamba did the presentation to the Acting OIC Prosecution, Senior Constable Eugene Wanai, at the Madang Town Police Station.

He has also made a similar donation to the Police Air Wing in Port Moresby.

"As part of our community obligation being a 100 per cent locally- owned ISP company, we took on community obligations to give away to help the community. I've been living in Madang for the last five years, so at least I should give back something to the people of Madang. In doing so, I am assisting the Police Prosecution Unit," he said.

This month alone, Mr Kamba dispersed about K100,000 to support various activities around the country, including a K10, 000 sponsorship to professional boxer John Ume to support him to Tahiti.

He also revealed that he will be making a similar donation to the Correctional Services at Beon today to help them move around more efficiently.

Acting OIC Prosecution, Senior Constable Eugene Wanai thanked Mr Kamba for the timely assistance stating the donation is a boost for his section.

He said gestures like Mr Kamba's are hard to come by nowadays, and for that, he is very grateful.
