Golden Jubilee aircraft set for arrival today

Anticipation is building up as staff of Air Niugini, invited guests and the general public gather to get a glimpse and welcome the country's new Airbus A220 aircraft dubbed the 'pipols balus' at the Jackson's Apec terminal.
Fire trucks have already positioned themselves to give a traditional wash down welcome as the aircraft makes its way into the tarmac.
Expected to touch down at 10am this morning, the aircraft bearing the striking red, black, and gold with the PNG flag livery, is making its final journey home flown by the country's very own Captain Beverly Pakii- Air Niugini's first female pilot who passed her Airbus A220 type rating with distinction in Montreal, Canada recently and Captain Timothy Narara.

The aircraft is expected to make a low flypast over Port Moresby before receiving a traditional water salute on its arrival at the Jackson's Airport.
The new airbus A220 not only marks a proud chapter in the nation's aviation history but is also timely as the nation celebrates its 50th Golden Jubilee tomorrow.
The official welcome ceremony today will include the blessing of the aircraft and ribbon-cutting to officially mark this proud chapter in our aviation history.
