Nuku district hospital underway

For almost 50 years, Nuku District in West Sepik Province has been in dire need of a proper health facility, a hospital to serve its people.

This will no longer be the story for Nuku as they have witnessed the groundbreaking ceremony on the land where the Nuku District Hospital will be built.

Minister for Health Elias Kapavore during the officiating ceremony said this is a 50th Golden Jubilee gift to the People of Nuku.

"This will be an upgrade level 4 hospital where we will have doctors based in the hospital who will be providing services like dental, x-rays, and theatre that most often you look for in other hospitals in Wewak and Vanimo."

According to the Health Minister, the hospital will Cost over a million kina and will be supported by the Asian Development Bank [ADB] and the Australian AID [AusAID] and the government of Papua New Guinea.

Minister Kapavore congratulates the people of Nuku for the new George Oakes District Office Complex and saying the New Nuku District Hospital will complement the building being opened.

Minster for Works and Highways and Member for Telefomin who also accompanied the Health Minister to officiate the groundbreaking ceremony also assured the people of West Sepik that his ministry will be delivering better roads and infrastructures to the people.
