Don Bosco Secondary School officially kicked off its pre-Independence celebration today, marking two major milestones: Papua New Guinea’s 50th Golden Jubilee and the school’s 30th anniversary.

The two-day celebration began this morning with a flag-raising ceremony, setting a patriotic tone for the event.

The school grounds were soon filled with excitement as students and staff participated in a variety of mini activities, including a talent show and fun games, showcasing the vibrant spirit of the Don Bosco community.

The celebration will conclude tomorrow with a historic highlight—the unveiling of a commemorative billboard and monument. A special time capsule ceremony will also take place, where the names and photos of the Class of 2025 will be buried.

This capsule is set to be opened in 2050, offering future generations a glimpse into the past.

This double celebration not only honors the legacy of the school but also reflects the national pride and unity in the lead-up to the country’s Independence Day.
