Students at the Holy Trinity School of Humanities in Baro, Vanimo Green District, today took centre stage in showcasing traditional cooking styles as part of the Pre-Independence celebrations leading up to Papua New Guinea’s 50th Independence Anniversary on 16th September.

With guidance from teachers and parents, students from Grades One to Eight took the lead in preparing a variety of dishes using traditional methods. What made the event even more special was that students came forward to explain the processes involved in preparing their dishes, proudly demonstrating their connection to ancestral practices.

The event celebrated the country’s rich cultural heritage and encouraged the younger generation to embrace and preserve traditional knowledge as Papua New Guinea marks five decades of nationhood.
