Mother of one killed in shocking attack in Simbu

A 28-year-old mother of one, Alice Mogia, from Mu village in Tabare LLG, Sinesine Yongomugl District, was allegedly raped and murdered on September 1, 2025, between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm.
The prime suspect, Boika Boiboi, a man aged between 30 and 40 from the same village, is believed to be a drug addict and is currently on the run.
According to police reports, Mogia was gardening near the Kawekane River when Boiboi allegedly attacked her, strangling and raping her before killing her. The suspect then dragged her body into the bush, mutilated it, and attempted to dispose of it in the river.
Simbu Provincial Police Commander, Superintendent Mazuc Rubiang, confirmed that a formal investigation is underway and that police have collected evidence from the crime scene.
"Police photographed every scene where the bones and her remains in the river and arranged health workers with ambulance and took the body to the village," he said.
Superintendent Rubiang added that while one suspect, Danile Nimai, 28, also from Mu village, has been arrested in connection with the case, the main suspect remains at large. Police and villagers are working around the clock to apprehend him.
