WR Carpenters Group of Companies has once again demonstrated its commitment to grassroots development and national sport by donating a Mitsubishi FUSO ROSA 30-seater bus to the Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League [PNGRFL].

The donation forms part of the company’s five-year strategic partnership aimed at strengthening rugby league across the country.

PNGRFL Chairman Sandis Tsaka said the new bus will serve as a lifeline for rugby league programs that span PNG’s vast regions.

“Boroko Motors, through WR Carpenters’ partnership, is the wheels that keep our National Rugby Competition running and allows our Community Rugby League department to service local leagues across the country,” Tsaka said.

“The impact goes far beyond branding or monetary support. This partnership directly empowers our teams and staff to reach communities, develop talent, and grow the sport at the grassroots level.”

The donation will enhance mobility for PNGRFL’s teams and officials, enabling seamless travel between regional offices and competition venues nationwide. It also complements the existing fleet of vehicles supplied by Boroko Motors, helping to maintain consistency and reliability for league operations.

Boroko Motors General Manager Liza Marie-Brooks said the bus represents WR Carpenters’ broader vision of using sport as a tool for social and community development.

“This 30-seater bus is a symbol of our commitment to empowering communities, enabling access, and driving development across the country,” she said.

“Rugby league has the power to unite, inspire, and uplift people. Through this partnership, we’re proud to help create opportunities for athletes and communities to thrive.”

WR Carpenters’ ongoing support highlights the vital role of corporate partnerships in PNG’s sporting landscape, helping bridge gaps in infrastructure, accessibility, and resources while ensuring that rugby league continues to grow from the grassroots to the national stage.
