Community spirit ignites Golden Jubilee celebration at Baro

Excited students, dedicated teachers, and proud parents filled the grounds of the Holy Trinity School of Humanities. They gathered at Baro in the Vanimo Green District to kick off a five-day celebration, honoring Papua New Guinea’s upcoming 50th Independence Anniversary.
Under the banner “Celebrating History, Inspiring the Future,” the community launched into a vibrant showcase of unity.
NBC West Sepik news team watched as students poured their energy and creativity into every activity. Their enthusiasm easily overcame the school's limited resources, transforming the grounds into a hub of national pride.
Head Teacher of Baro Primary School, Mrs. Betty Paofa, watched the events unfold with a joyful expression. She praised the students' remarkable teamwork and creative spirit.
“Education is the key to unlocking doors for our children’s future,” Mrs. Paofa declared to the crowd.
She urged parents to champion their children’s education. Then, she encouraged the students to remain committed to their studies, reminding them that they represent the nation’s future leaders.
The entire celebration sprang to life without any official funding. The unwavering dedication of teachers, students, and parents alone fueled the event’s successful start.
Looking out at the spirited festivities, Mrs. Paofa extended a warm invitation to everyone in Vanimo and the surrounding communities. She invited them to join the celebrations and wished the entire country a happy 50th Golden Jubilee Independence Anniversary as Papua New Guinea honors its past and inspires its future.
