Miss Bird of Paradise Sandaun crowned

Vanimo town in West Sepik Province came alive yesterday when they crowned their Inaugural Miss Bird of Paradise Sandaun to be their Cultural Ambassador to Papua New Guinea.
A first of its kind in the province and being the first Province in the country to crown their Queen.
Vanimo Green local Member and Minister for Tourism Arts and Culture Belden Namah say this is only the beginning of more Pageants to be hosted in the province.
The five contestants gracefully contested the crown, all representing the 4 Districts of West Sepik as they displayed their traditional attire, sarong wear, storytelling, songs, personal talents, and their beauty.
The audience loved the show as they applauded each contestant, cheering them on as they showcased the beauty of Sandaun.
Giving his keynote address Mr Namah told his people that this Pageant will bring tourism into the province.
"Tourism is the pot of Gold for this country, and this Pageant we are hosting now in Sandaun will bring in Tourism into the province" said Minister Belden Namah.
Mr Namah said West Sepik has made history, as the country will be celebrating its 50th Golden Jubilee. Sandaun has sent a queen to represent the province in showcasing the province's cultures and traditions.

The Pageant is all about unity and empowerment, leaving no one behind.
Chairlady and founder of the PNG Miss Bird of Paradise Pageant Anna Bais said the province can never go wrong as they lift up their women to achieve their dreams and goals in life.
Newly Crowned Miss Bird of Paradise Sandaun is Ms Vanimo Free Trade Zone Carol Hwena from Lido Village in Vanimo.
"I thank the people of West Sepik for believing in me and supporting me throughout this journey, I thank my major Sponsor Vanimo Free Trade Zone Limited for unlimited support and to my Family" said MBoP Sandaun Carol Hwena.
First runner up is Ms Bewani Palm Oil Development Limited Christina Koni and second runner up Ms Selewen Sio Building Construction Annie - Rose WouWou
All contestants walked away with gifts and cash prizes.
