St. Joseph Mingende Rural Hospital celebrated its 75th anniversary with official accreditation as a Level 4 District Hospital.

The achievement comes after 14 years of relentless effort and commitment, bringing pride to the community the hospital has served since its establishment in 1950.

Health Minister Elias Kapavore announced the accreditation, commending the strong partnership between the government and the Catholic Church in delivering vital healthcare services.

“This milestone opens new opportunities for support from provincial health authorities, enabling the hospital to recruit skilled medical professionals and expand its services,” Kapavore said.

He added that the accreditation ushers in a new era for Mingende, positioning the hospital as a beacon of quality care and hope for surrounding communities.

Simbu Governor Noah Kool and Kerowagi MP Francis Kikin both praised the hospital staff for their unwavering dedication. Long-serving staff members were also recognized and honoured for their years of service.

Kikin further pledged to donate a vehicle through the Kerowagi District Development Authority to strengthen hospital operations.

He said the hospital’s remarkable journey is a testament to the power of collective effort and community spirit in improving healthcare access for the people of Simbu.
