103 health officers inducted to strengthen Hela services

Health service delivery in Hela Province has received a significant boost with the induction of 103 officers from the Hela Provincial Health Authority [PHA] into the public service.
The group, which includes corporate staff, doctors, allied health workers, and clinical personnel from facilities across the province, completed a weeklong Somare Institute of Leadership and Governance [SILAG] induction program at Pai Hope in Tari.
This is the second batch of Hela PHA staff to undergo the program, following 95 officers inducted in 2017.
SILAG Program Manager Murphy Dagaun commended Hela PHA for taking the initiative to strengthen its workforce.
“By ensuring its staff are properly inducted, Hela PHA has demonstrated commendable leadership. This program sets a standard for other government agencies to follow,” Dagaun said.
SILAG Learning and Development Manager Michael Lopele said that the induction is a mandatory requirement for all public servants, designed to instill values of accountability and service.
“The induction equips officers with a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities, and reinforces the Oath of Service. It lays the foundation for lifelong commitment to the people and the nation,” Mr Lopele said.
Hela PHA is now the fourth Provincial Health Authority in the Highlands Region to successfully implement the induction program with the move expected to strengthen governance and improve frontline service delivery across the province.
