The Simbu Provincial Government has officially opened a series of new education infrastructure projects in the Sinesine-Yongomugl and Kundiawa-Gembogl districts, valued at K1.1 million each.

The facilities, launched last year and completed within schedule, include classrooms, staff houses, and a girls’ dormitory aimed at improving the quality of teaching and learning across the province.

In Sinesine-Yongomugl, the projects opened were two double classrooms at Ku High School, a girls’ dormitory at Mai High School, and double classrooms at Yobakogul and Nebere primary schools.

In Kundiawa-Gembogl, the government commissioned one staff house each at Kondom Agaundo Memorial High School and St. Don Bosco Barengigl High School, along with two staff houses at Kundiawa Lutheran Day Secondary School.

Governor Noah Kool said the investment demonstrated the administration’s priority in building a prosperous future through education.

“The completion of these projects signifies the administration’s commitment, dedication, and honesty,” he said. “Education is the key to our nation’s prosperity, and we will continue to invest in it. This serves as a model for other sectors to emulate.”

School leaders and students expressed gratitude. Jonathan Lukio, Principal of Kundiawa Lutheran Day Secondary, said the new infrastructure would ease hardships schools had been facing due to resource shortages under new education programs.

At Ku High School, student Lucy Gende welcomed the facilities, saying the government’s commitment to education showed a clear investment in the future of children.

The Simbu Provincial Government, in partnership with the Simbu Education Board, will continue rolling out similar projects in other districts. Openings in Salt-Nomane Karamui are scheduled for today, with Kerowagi, Gumine, and Chuave to follow.
