Kar Primary School elevated to Junior High status with backing from Nipa-Kutubu DDA

Kar Primary School in the Nipa-Kutubu District of Southern Highlands Province has officially been elevated to Junior High School status, a long-awaited milestone that fulfills the hopes and aspirations of surrounding communities in the Poroma LLG.
This elevation has been endorsed by the Southern Highlands Provincial Education Division.
While the recognition laid the groundwork, it was the decisive support from the Nipa-Kutubu District Development Authority [DDA], under the leadership of local MP Dr. Billy Joseph that turned this vision into reality.
The school is now set to enroll its first cohort of Grade 9 students in the upcoming academic year.
To strengthen the school’s new status and accommodate the growing student population, the DDA has funded the construction of a 4-in-1 classroom block.
“Education remains one of our top priorities,” said Dr. Joseph.
“We are determined to build strong foundations for our children by providing quality facilities and opportunities for learning. The elevation of Kar School is just one of many steps we’re taking to uplift the district.”
The announcement has sparked a wave of enthusiasm and pride among surrounding community members, particularly in Upper Poroma.
Demonstrating their deep connection to the school and their eagerness for its growth, community members have been gathering daily to clear land in preparation for the new building.
With building materials already delivered to the site, construction is poised to begin, signaling a new chapter for Kar Junior High School and the students it will soon serve.
