The Opposition has called on Prime Minister James Marape to replace underperforming ministers with leaders who can deliver results.

Opposition Leader Douglas Tomuriesa, his deputy James Donald, and Kerenga Kua made the call during a press conference in Port Moresby yesterday.

Mr Tomuriesa said the Prime Minister has retained the same ministers for nearly nine years without significant improvements in key areas such as law and order and State-Owned Enterprises [SOEs].

“If your ministers have let you down for too long and do not have a plan to sort out issues in their departments, get rid of them and put in new ministers who can deliver,” He said.

He added that many capable leaders are being overlooked while current ministers continue to underperform.

“Issues in the SOEs, issues in the economy, if they have failed you as ministers in your government, replace them and put people who are competent enough to run those departments,” he said.
