Law Society urges nation to recommit to PNG constitution on 50th Anniversary

The Papua New Guinea Law society has called on all Papua New Guineans including members of parliament to recommit to the constitution of the country.

President Hubert Namani made this call in a media statement released today to mark the 50th anniversary since the formal adoption of the country's Constitution in 1975.

President Hubert Namani Highlighted 15th August 1975 as a defining moment in PNG's history when the hopes, dreams, and aspirations of a new nation were captured in a single foundational document.

Describing the constitution as a light that has guided the nation through all-sorts of challenges over the last five decades.

Namani called on every citizen, leaders, communities, and institutions alike to live by its principles and ensure that the vision of 1975 enshrined in the constitution continues to shape PNG path forward.

On the golden jubilee, the law society President has urged everyone to recommit to the ideals enshrined within its pages and work together so that, fifty years from now, the next generation will look back with pride on the strong nation that has been built over time.
