Barramundis eye European glory in high stakes Jersey tour

The PNG Barramundis have touched down in Europe with a goal to conquer the Jersey Tour and prove they belong among cricket’s best
Facing a tight schedule of T20 and ODI clashes, the national men’s side will use this tour to test their mettle against quality opposition and push for international ranking gains.
“This is our chance to show the world what PNG cricket is made of,” captain Assadollah Vala during their departure yesterday. “We’ve prepared well, and we’re ready to fight for every run and wicket.”
The campaign begins in Guernsey on August 16 with a T20, followed by two ODIs the next day, before the team heads to Jersey for the main tournament starting August 20.
Coach John Ovia says the Barramundis are mentally and physically primed. “We’re confident, this is a squad ready to deliver,” he said.
With the nation’s hopes riding on them, the Barramundis know every ball bowled in Europe will be a chance to strengthen PNG’s place on the global cricket stage.
