Counting for Usino-Bundi by-election nears completion

Counting for the Usino/ Bundi by- election is nearing completion as the elimination process continues.
There are only six candidates remaining in the race after counting was suspended after half past one this morning.
Independent candidate Vincent Kumura is surging ahead with 11, 549 votes, with a margin of 1 thousand 458 votes ahead of Our Party’s Nick Kamuti who has far collected 10, 091 votes, and on the third spot is People First Party candidate, Donald Uguro with 9, 921 votes.
The absolute majority now is 23, 543.
The other three candidates who are still in the race are National Alliance’s Michael Ngond who is on 4th place with 6, 041 votes, PANGU’s Pewa Aimai on the 5th place with 5, 600 votes and United Resource Party’s candidate Philip Ororoku on the 6th spot with 3, 865 votes.
Police say the situation at Walium throughout the counting period has been peaceful and they are urging the people to maintain the same until the time of declaration, which is likely to be today.
They also say the station is slowly swelling up with people as they eagerly await the conclusion of the elimination process and the eventual declaration of a new member.
