The Yangoru Saussia District Development Authority has announced the start of a vital road project that will connect remote villages in Numbo LLG to the main Sepik Highway, benefiting nearly 10,000 residents.

Under the leadership of MP and Minister for International Trade and Investment, Richard Maru, the DDA has allocated K500,000 for a 5-kilometre pilot track linking Neimu and Wamayan villages.

This initiative marks a huge milestone in improving rural accessibility and unlocking socio-economic opportunities for communities in Neimu, Niahombi, Numbohu, and surrounding areas.

“This road, once completed, will truly ease our burden for shorter and reliable access to the main Sepik Highway", said Local Ward Member Jimmy Fringwara, who thanked Mr Maru and the DDA for responding to the community’s longstanding plea.

Yangoru Saussia DDA CEO Jeffrey Leni thanked the DDA Board and MP for their decisive support, urging local residents to take ownership of the project to ensure its successful completion.

The road link is expected to enhance access to essential services, stimulate local trade, and foster inclusive development across the hinterlands of Numbo LLG.
