Kambise opens double classroom amidst law and order challenges

The opening of a double classroom in the Goilala District of Central Province has reinforced the purpose of educating the younger generation.
The ribbon cutting and opening by Goilala MP Casmiro Aiha was witnessed by teachers, students and people of Kambise village.
During the occasion, MP Aia spoke of the importance of educating the Goilala people.
He says this has been a challenge because most schools were forced to shutdown due to lawlessness and negligence by leaders and levels of Government.
"We thank the Marape-Rosso Government for prioritising education and allocating funds to help build school infrastructure", Aia said.
He reiterated that a priority now is to liaise with the Central Provincial Education Authority on how best schools can be reopened.
The Goilala MP commended the Catholic Church through the Bereina Diocese for maintaining its presence and supporting schools in parts of the electorate.
"We value the partnership with Catholic Missionaries and will work together with the Church to improve not just education but health services as well," the Goilala MP said
He said developing the district is a mammoth task. He says that with no proper road network and rough terrains, building vital infrastructure close to the people continues to be challenging.
"Most communities do not have Government workers stationed to provide basic services like education and health. But that must not deter us, we have to build this infrastructure for our people to access."

The new classroom is the first new building for Kambise Primary School since its establishment in the 1960s by French Catholic Missionaries.
The Goilala MP has committed the District Development Authority to build more teachers' houses and classrooms for the school to use.
He also challenged parents to ensure their children are enrolled and attend classes.
"I want the children to be educated to the highest level. Our literacy rate is below average, education is the only answer, and schools like Kambasi provide that opportunity," the MP said.
The Kambasi school caters for Grades 3 up to Grade 6 and has 3 teachers with an enrollment of 120 students.
The school was closed during the former MP's term but was reopened in 2021.
The current classrooms were built by locals.
According to the District Education Officer, Samson Peter, the National Education Department has granted the registration of Ononge Junior High School for the Goilala District.
The officer says this falls well with the Goilala District Development Plan to have 3 high schools.
Mr Peter added that Woitape will also have a technical secondary school.
"Eleven schools in Goilala District have been upgraded, and positions will be filled. This will be effective next year", Peter said.
He encouraged children to attend to classes and for community leaders and people to provide undivided support to teachers and the school board.
