Ahi Investment celebrates 10 years of community impact with sports tournament

Ahi Investment Limited [AIL] is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a week-long sports tournament, bringing together six Ahi villages in Hengali, Yalu, Kamkumung, Wagang, Yanga, and Butibum, in a vibrant display of community unity and sporting spirit.
The anniversary celebrations officially kicked off last Sunday with an opening ceremony and the first round of games in Touch Footy, Soccer, Volleyball, Netball, and Basketball.
A major highlight of the opening event was a keynote address by AIL Chairman Mr. George Gware, who announced that the company has invested K12 million in community-driven initiatives, guided by the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals [SDGs].
“So far, we [AIL] have invested K12 million in programs that benefit our communities. If we continue doing good, we can achieve the UN SDGs in our own backyards,” Gware said.
He urged young people from the Ahi villages to rise above challenges, adopt a solutions-oriented mindset, and work together for the betterment of their communities.
“I challenge the young people of Ahi not to blame others for the problems we face, but to become the people who create solutions,” he said. “Enjoy this week in the true spirit of sportsmanship.”
Deputy Chairman Mr. Gae Galang delivered closing remarks for the ceremony, thanking directors, staff, volunteers, players, and village leaders for their contributions to the successful launch of the tournament.
He reminded the community that the Games are more than just a celebration of sport—they are a celebration of peace, progress, and people.
“We encourage all participants to compete with humility, fairness, and pride,” Galang said. “Use this tournament as a platform to build friendships, promote unity, and grow as future leaders.”
Mr. Galang also highlighted that the anniversary celebrations would continue in the coming weeks and encouraged everyone to keep supporting AIL’s vision and development goals.
The tournament will conclude with a closing ceremony this Saturday, where top-performing teams and individuals will be recognized for their achievements, discipline, and contribution to this historic milestone.
