Madang rugby league 9s competition ends

The Madang Rugby League Nine's Competition concluded successfully last weekend with the semi-finals and grand finals played at the Ron Albert Oval in town.
The competition, played over six weekends, featured strong participation from across the province, showcasing the growing enthusiasm and talent for Rugby League in the province.
A total of 14 male teams and 8 female teams competed in the tournament, showcasing the inclusive nature of the competition and the increasing prominence of women's participation in the once male- dominated sporting code.

The matches drew vibrant local support and provided a platform for athletes to display their skills in a condensed and fast- paced version of traditional Rugby League.
The six- weeks competition was co- sponsored by Raibus Limited, a prominent landowner company of the Ramu Nickel and Cobalt Project, ±and also in collaboration with the committees of the Madang Rugby League Executive.
Their partnership played a critical role in facilitating the tournament, supporting grassroots rugby league development, and strengthening community engagement through sports.
The Madang Nine's Competition served as both a sporting celebration and a community-building event, emphasizing the important role of local stakeholders in nurturing youth development and promoting healthy lifestyles through sports.
