ICSA launches training to include gender and social inclusion in its work

The Papua New Guinea Immigration and Citizenship Authority [ICSA] has started the first of a series of training workshops to teach its officers about the importance of including Gender Equity and Social Inclusion [GESI] in their work.
The first workshop, called the “Know Your Strategic Work Plan”, ran for three days this week and focused on helping officers understand ICSA’s Corporate Plan.
Twenty officers from different levels of the organization took part in activities that included case studies and real life examples.
The aim of the training is to include the GESI policy in ICSA’s planning and daily work, and to encourage teamwork, responsibility, and ownership among staff.
Chief Migration Officer Wellington Navasivu said GESI must be part of everything ICSA does.
“We here at ICSA acknowledge the importance of furthering the GESI agenda and are working towards full implementation of the GESI policy.
“This training workshop is a pivotal step toward empowering our officers to achieve their professional aspirations while collectively improving the organization by promoting accountability and ownership," Navasivu said.
The training will continue sessions throughout 2025
