Kaugere residents to be home owners of NHC properties

Long time residents of Kaugere in Moresby South electorate in the National Capital District [NCD] will now be home owners of their National Housing Commission Properties after many years.
Local MP and Foreign Affairs Minister Justin Tkatchenko MP on Tuesday handed over the documents of 185 blocks to the Minister for Housing, Dr Kobby Bomareo.
"We have 185 blocks that have been identified under NHC that have all the documentation ready for you to go through."
"They are for our long-time residents of Kaugere, pre-independence, during the colonial administration up to now.' It was one of the first housing estates built in Papua New Guinea, and especially in the Central Business District.
Minister Tkatchenko acknowledged Minister Bomareo for the housing initiative, which he told Parliament would see residents of NCD receiving the homes they have lived in for many years as a gift for the 50th Independence anniversary.
"This will happen once the genuine owners are identified, and everything is done properly and correctly.
"A big thank you to Minister Tkatchenko for your proactive approach and taking the lead for Moresby South, ensuring that our people are at peace and have the security that they deserve", Dr Bomareo said
Moresby South electorate is finalizing other NHC properties documentation in Joyce Bay, Talai, Sabama, Kogeva, Kone, and others, which will also be submitted to NHC for screening and approval.
Minister Tkatchenko stated: "l want my people of Moresby South to be safe and secure and not worrying anymore about where they live and if they will be removed."
