Office of Censorship in talks with MBP

A team from the Office of Censorship PNG was in Milne Bay recently. They are looking to sign an understanding with the Provincial Administration through the Division of Community Development to decentralize their functions at the provincial, district, and ward levels.
Milne Bay isn't the first, they've reached out to West Sepik already, a strategic border province the same.
The meeting in Alotau with line agencies to support the work of Censorship resulted in a draft towards establishing a provincial censorship committee to oversee Censorship work, and included Police, Churches, Districts and LLGs, Youth, Customs, counselling services, and more, led by the Division of Community Development.
Deputy Chief Censor Illikomau Ali says while this is being undertaken, they are aware of the need to review and update the PNG Censorship Act 1989 and gave participants an update of that.
A move needed now more than ever in this day and age.
Meantime, the terms of reference for such a provincial committee setup will now see parties involved go over this and once agreed upon, will be signed under an MOU later this year.
The Office of Censorship is regulator of information and material ensuring they are suitable for public consumption from music and art, films and loves and more.
