Pangu fields candidates in ongoing by-elections

Pangu Pati has announced its two candidates for the Central Bougainville and the Usino Bundi by-elections.
These two candidates are Lohial Nuau for Central Bougainville in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville and Pewa Aiwai for Usino Bundi in Madang province.
Prime Minister James Marape, when announcing this today, said these two candidates have been selected based on merit and their standing in their respective communities.
" Lohial Nuau was a former Secretary for the Petroleum Department who left his job and spent almost 5 years in Central Bougainville.
"Similarly, Pewa Aiwai was a former Deputy Governor of Madang province and a longtime President of Usino LLG," Prime Minister Marape said.
He added, the process deployed by the party from the ground up to the national party council, recognised these two candidates as men befitting and ticked off all boxes necessary with credentials as qualified candidates, based in their electorates.
Prime Minister Marape also noted that the ruling Pangu Pati has endorsed only two candidates out of the five electorates that are currently in by-elections.
He emphasized that this was a strategic decision to give opportunity to their coalition partners who had their candidates running for the other electorates such as the Aitape Lumi, Porgera and Kabwum electorates.
Central Bougainville Candidate, Lohial Nuau has expressed his gratitude to the Pangu Pati for their recognition and endorsement to contest the Central Bougainville By- election under their party banner.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister has made his intention known to visit Central Bougainville and Usino Bundi to campaign for the Pangu Pati candidates during the campaign period in preparation for polling.
