NCD launches 50th anniversary celebrations

The nation's capital has kick-started its 50th Independence celebrations, with a bang - starting with the Grand Float Parade on Friday, featuring performances from the British Army’s Pipe & Drum Majors, a Māori Kapa Haka group, and vibrant cultural dances.
Prime Minister James Marape officiated the program at the NCD City Hall, launching a motorcade of twenty-two [22] nations from the Pacific region, Asia, and neighboring countries, including those that had a part in shaping PNG's independence.
Yesterday's event at the Sir Hubert Murray stadium beginning at 9 am and ending in the night, themed " Amazing Port Moresby, Asian story and Pacific story.
It saw a range of performances from New Zealand Maori's Hapa Kapa group performance, Samoa's Siva demonstration, Tuvalu and Kiribati.
