Pruaitch and Mise contest Aitape-Lumi seat

The former Member of Parliament for Aitape-Lumi District in West Sepik Province, Anderson Mise nominated today to contest the Aitape-Lumi By-Elections.

Mises' election as Member for Aitape Lumi was declared void by the National Court on January 4th, 2024, leaving Aitape-Lumi without an MP.

Mise is a United Resource Party Candidate, and his nomination was witnessed by the Aitape-Lumi By-Elections Returning Officer, John Awas, and supporters in Aitape.

Yesterday, National Alliance Candidate Patrick Pruaitch, also the former MP for Aitape-Lumi from 2002 to 2022 nominated in Aitape.

According to Returning Officer John Awas, so far, 5 candidates have been nominated to contest the by-election seat.

The five candidates are Tony Christie Waisi, Daniel Reim Abiazah, Paul Aisir, Patrick Pruaitch, and Anderson Mise.

NBC News is yet to confirm with the returning officer if these are the only candidates contesting in the by-election. The nomination window closes on Thursday, 1st May at 4 pm.
