With zero sponsors on board to meet their aspirations for the 2025 South Pacific Darts Championship, PNG Darts Federation was only able to send two teams to compete in the fourth leg of event.

The two national teams comprising of 6 men’s and 6 women’s are currently competing against teams from Vanuatu, Niue, Kiribati, Nauru, Tonga, Cook Islands and hosts Fiji.

All participating countries have sent a stack line-up for the championships with PNG only able to send a team of two groups including president Molean Kilepak, who is in Suva a to bid to host the 5th regional tournament in Port Moresby in 2027.

The PNG Darts federation president Mr. Kilepak said there was no relevant support from sporting bodies in the country to equip the national team.

But, he said they got assistance from close friends to help send the first team of 6 men on Saturday while the women’s team left for Fiji this morning.

“Given the lack of sponsorship towards our participation, we are grateful to those individuals who have come forward to assist us,” he said of the timely support.

“They have requested not to be acknowledged publicly but they know who they are. Your support has enabled our team to participate in the 4th SPDC.”

PNG men: Cornwall Lahui Rudolph; Ginate Geita; Tamasi Arua; Ikau Karo; and Simon Maino.

PNG Women: Patricia Maurice; Merolyn Bamateng; Loa Joel; Mabel Maino; Sandra Navuru; and Sarah Pepena.
