The National Broadcasting Corporation [NBC] today witnessed a groundbreaking for the construction of 38 new staff houses at its 5-mile residential compound in Port Moresby.

The groundbreaking ceremony, brought together various dignitaries, including Moresby North-East MP John Kaupa, Minister for ICT Timothy Masiu, Minister for Housing Dr. Kobby Bomearu, NBC Board and Management, and representatives from the developer, Apota Constructions Limited.

Minister for ICT Timothy Masiu echoed this sentiment, expressing his enthusiasm for the development.
“Broadcasting is a everyday job, and having staff live close to their workplace enhances efficiency. NBC is a cornerstone of Papua New Guinea's nation-building journey, and this project reflects our commitment to supporting the staff who keep it running. I will personally ensure this initiative moves forward,” Masiu said.
He also highlighted NBC’s plans to utilize its land strategically to improve housing for its dedicated employees, ensuring the project continues into the future.
Housing Minister Dr. Kobby Bomearu, representing Prime Minister James Marape, stressed the importance of adequate housing in boosting organizational productivity.
“Housing is key to enhancing workforce morale and efficiency. I urge NBC’s Board and Management to collaborate closely with the Lands Department and other stakeholders to prevent delays,” Dr. Bomearu stated.
Local MP John Kaupa praised the initiative as a vital development for his electorate.
“This project is a significant step forward for Moresby North-East, its a face-lift in my electorate and I pledge my support to see it succeed,” he said.
