Hela Provincial Administrator Marago Tagoba strongly condemned the attempted murder of a Dauli College student on Thursday.
Mr. Tagoba expressed deep sadness over the attack and wants those responsible to be held accountable.
"The student, Gilbert Kapipi, was attacked within the Dauli community, where he has been a part of the last three years.”
Mr. Tagoba clarified that Gilbert had no involvement in the recent police incident in which a grade 12 student was allegedly killed accidentally by police officers.
"If this attempted murder is in retaliation for that incident, it is completely misguided, as the student is innocent.
He assured that the investigation into the alleged shooting of the Grade 12 student is ongoing, and emphasized that security personnel have been deployed to maintain peace around the vital tertiary institution.
Tagoba urged the people of Hela to avoid setting a dangerous precedent of violence against students.
