The National Broadcasting Corporation [NBC] Analog to Digital [A2D] Team has started the second phase of the digital television project in the country.

Central is among 10 provinces earmarked to roll out the project with Kwikila and Bereina stations as the pilot sites.

The A2D team visited Bereina in Kairuku district last week and Rigo’s Kwikila township yesterday to discuss with the respective administrations on how the much-anticipated digital program will be implemented.

The NBC A2D team along with the China State Construction Engineering Corporation, met with the Rigo District Administration and deliberated on project arrangements to start the actual work on the ground.

This meeting was arranged by the management of NBC Central as part of the A2D Team’s efforts to begin the second phase of the digital television project in the province.

Head of the NBC A2D Project Joe Wafewa said the partnership with China will pave way for a sixty-meter tower to be built at Kwikila station.

The tower will help expand NBC's radio and television services to the remote areas of the district.

Civil Registry Officer under the Community Development Sector of the Rigo District Administration, Wilson Kunei, expressed excitement about how this project will benefit the area.

Meanwhile, Acting District Planner of Kairuku, Allan Biri, also anticipate tangible outcomes from this partnership.

Biri pledged to work closely with the NBC A2D Team and their Chinese partners to start the project soon.
