Alluvial gold miners in Eastern Highlands Province have been urged to diversify into other businesses, re-invest and manage their earnings.

Mineral Resources Authority Managing Director, Jerry Garry says there is huge potential for all alluvial miners in Papua New Guinea.

MD Garry echoed this during the 6th Alluvial Mining Convention and Trade Show in Goroka yesterday.

"We encourage you all to diversity you business to other sectors, manage well and become very successful,"Mr. Garry said

The convention was attended by over 300 miners, government regulatory agencies, gold buyers, exporters, financiers and other relevant stakeholders.

According to MRA the event was to share information, experiences and discuss regulatory policies among other agendas.

The MRA MD reiterated that those involved in alluvial mining can be lead players in PNG's mining sector if there is a plan to invest and diversify their business.
